The Bot River estuary
The lagoon below the golf course, and the wild horses that live on it.
On the estate's doorstep from the estate
The largest estuarine lagoon in the Western Cape sits at the bottom of the estate. There are wild horses on the marshes on the far side, descended from animals left there generations ago, and they are usually visible from the road.
What to do there
- The lookout deck above the lagoon, at the far end of the back nine
- Drive around towards Fisherhaven early or late to find the horses
- Birding on the reed beds — flamingos are regular
Worth knowing
- The horses are genuinely wild. Watch them from a distance and stay in the car
