Flamingos, fish eagles and the wild horses, from the bottom of the course.
On the estate from the estate
The Bot River estuary is the largest in the Western Cape and one of the better birding spots on this coast. Greater and lesser flamingos are regular, African fish eagles work the far bank, and the wild horses graze the marshes on the other side.
What to do there
- Walk down to the lookout deck at the end of the back nine, early
- Look for flamingos in the shallows and fish eagles on the far bank
- The wild horses are usually visible across the water towards Fisherhaven
Worth knowing
- Early morning and late afternoon are when there is something to see
