A table worth the drive
Creation Wines
Food and wine paired course by course, high on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge.
45 minutes from the estate
Up at the top of the ridge, where the valley opens out and the wind arrives off the sea. Creation built its name on pairing — every glass comes with something made to go with it — and it is the one people plan the day around rather than fit in.
How it got here
Started by Jean-Claude Martin, a Swiss winemaker, and Carolyn Martin, whose family has been in Cape wine for generations. They planted on the ridge when the accepted wisdom was that it was too high, too cool and too windy.
